Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Uzbekcha (“we”, “us”) is a product of UzVIP, an app studio based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This policy explains what we collect on the website uzbekcha.app and in the Uzbekcha app for iPhone, why, and what your choices are.

What we collect on this website

Waitlist signups. When you join the waitlist we store the email address you enter, the language and reason you select (optional), the page and button you used, the country your request came from (derived by our hosting provider from your IP address, without storing the IP itself), your browser’s user-agent string, and the date and time. We use this to send you one launch email, a launch offer, and, if you replied to a survey, to contact you about it. We do not send a newsletter.

Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not track you across sites or build a profile of you. It records aggregate page views, referrers, country, browser and device type.

Emails you send us. If you write to [email protected] we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to help you.

What we do not do. No advertising, no advertising trackers, no selling or renting of personal data, no cookies for tracking. The site sets no cookies of its own.

What we collect in the app

Your account. The app never asks for a password. On first launch it creates an account on our server, identified by a random key stored on your phone, and you can use the app this way without signing in.

Signing in with Apple or Google. Signing in is optional; it keeps your progress when you change or reset your phone. If you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, that provider confirms who you are and we receive from it a stable user id for your account with that provider and your email address. We keep only these two: if Apple or Google also shares your name, we do not keep it. Your email address reaches us only this way: if you do not sign in with Apple or Google, we never get it. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we receive only the relay address Apple gives us. We keep the email address only if the provider has verified it. We never receive your Apple or Google password.

Your answers. When you start, you tell us your first name, where you are from, your first language, where in Uzbekistan you will be, why you are learning (and, if you like, one sentence about it), what you do, the places you will need Uzbek this week, your daily goal, a reminder time and the audio speed you prefer. Every lesson is written from these answers: that is what makes it yours. You can change them at any time under Settings > About you.

Your learning. We keep what you have done so the app can pick up where you left off: which lessons and parts you finished, how many minutes you practised on each day, your streak and badges, and which words you got right or wrong in reviews, so they come back at the right time.

Speaking practice. When you tap the microphone, the app records you until you stop speaking (at most 12 seconds) and sends the recording to our server, which passes it to our AI voice provider to turn it into text. We compare that text with the phrase and show you which words came out right. We do not store your recording or the text. The recording stays on your phone only so you can play it back, in temporary storage that your phone clears. The app asks for microphone access the first time you speak, and “Can’t speak now” skips speaking practice.

Your subscription. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple; we never see your card or bank details or your Apple ID. A subscription management service checks your purchases with Apple for us. It receives a random user id for your account (not your name or email address), the purchase information Apple provides for that id, and the technical details any app connection carries, such as your IP address. It tells our server your subscription status: whether it is active, which plan, whether it is in a free trial, whether it will renew and when the current period ends.

Mistake reports. If you report a mistake in a lesson, we keep what you write and where in the lesson it was, to correct it.

Reminders. Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone; we do not run a notification service. Your chosen reminder time is saved with your answers. You can turn reminders off in Settings or in your phone’s settings.

On your phone. To work without a connection, the app keeps copies of your next lessons and their audio, your progress, your settings and sessions waiting to be sent. Deleting the app removes them.

Before anything is sent. The first time you open the app, it tells you what goes to AI services and asks for your agreement. Nothing about you is sent to them before you agree.

What the app does not do. No advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, no selling or sharing of your data, and no profile of you for anyone else. Lessons are written by AI and can contain mistakes (see our Terms).

Where data is stored and who processes it

  • Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website, stores waitlist records (Cloudflare Workers KV), and provides analytics and DNS. Cloudflare operates a global network; records may be replicated across regions.
  • Google Fonts serves the typefaces on this site. Loading a font sends your IP address and browser details to Google. You can block this in your browser without affecting the text.
  • Email. Our mailbox is provided by Google Workspace.
  • Our server runs the app and stores your account, sign-in details, subscription status, answers and learning records. It is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany.
  • An AI language-model provider writes your lessons. We send it your answers, the topic of the next lesson and the topics you have already done (so lessons do not repeat). It does not use this data to train its models, and it deletes it within 30 days, unless it must keep it longer to enforce its usage policy or by law.
  • An AI voice provider creates the spoken Uzbek in the lessons (the voice you hear) and turns your speaking practice into text. It receives the Uzbek sentences of your lessons, which can include your first name, and, when you practise speaking, your recording. It does not use this data to train its models.
  • A subscription management service checks subscription purchases with Apple and tells our server your subscription status. It receives the random user id for your account and the purchase information described above.
  • Apple and Google sign you in, if you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, and share with us the details described above. Apple also sells and bills subscriptions. For your Apple or Google account, their own privacy policies apply.

The two AI providers and the subscription management service process data on our instructions under data processing terms. All three are based in the United States, so this data is transferred there, protected by Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not use any other third-party processors.

Legal basis

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process waitlist data on the basis of your consent (you asked to be notified) and our legitimate interest in understanding demand for the product. Analytics data is processed on the basis of legitimate interest and is not personally identifiable.

In the app, we process your answers, learning records and recordings because they are needed to give you the lessons you asked for (performance of a contract), and we send them to the AI providers only after you have agreed in the app. We use the microphone only with the permission your phone asks you for; you can withdraw it at any time in your phone’s settings. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we use the details they share to keep your account and progress, at your request. We use your subscription status to give you the access you paid for. Both are needed to provide the service (performance of a contract). We use mistake reports to correct lessons, which is in our legitimate interest and yours.

How long we keep it

Waitlist records are kept until Uzbekcha launches and for 12 months afterwards, then deleted, unless you have created an account by then. You can ask us to delete your record at any time.

In the app, we keep your account, sign-in details, subscription status, answers and learning records while you use it. If you do not practise for 24 months, we delete them. Mistake reports are kept for 12 months. Recordings and their text are not kept. When your account is deleted, by you or after 24 months without practice, we also delete its record at the subscription management service. If you still have a subscription with Apple and restore it later, a new record is created there. Our server’s technical logs, which include IP addresses, are kept for 30 days, and database backups for 14 days, so deleted data also leaves the backups within 14 days.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to its processing, by emailing [email protected] from the address in question. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

In the app you can change your answers under Settings > About you, and delete everything, on our server and on your phone, under Settings > Delete account and data. This also deletes your record at the subscription management service and, if you signed in with Apple, revokes the app’s Sign in with Apple link with Apple. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store account settings.

Children

The app is for adults: you must be 18 or over to use it. The website and waitlist are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect children’s data; if you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use waitlist data, we will email the waitlist first; if it materially affects the app, the app will ask for your agreement again.
