Business meetings in Uzbekistan may well run in English or Russian, and nobody will expect Uzbek from you. A few Uzbek sentences still land well: a welcome at the door, your name and company, a clear “agreed” at the end and a thank-you. The one grammar idea on this page is how a team speaks: -moqchimiz (“we would like to”) and kelishdik (“we have agreed”).
This page is part of Uzbek for business in Uzbekistan, the guide for professionals and investors.

We would like to, we agreed: -moqchimiz and kelishdik
In a meeting you mostly speak for a team, so the endings on this page are the “we” endings: -miz in the present and future, -k in the past.
- -moqchimiz means “we would like to” or “we intend to”. Take the dictionary form of the verb, cut off -moq and add -moqchimiz: taklif qil- gives taklif qilmoqchimiz (we would like to offer), chiq- gives chiqmoqchimiz (we want to go out, enter), uchrash- gives uchrashmoqchimiz (we would like to meet). Speaking for yourself, the ending is -moqchiman. To say you do not intend to, use -moqchi emasmiz: Imzolamoqchi emasmiz (we do not intend to sign).
- Kelishdik is kelish- (to come to an agreement) + -di (past) + -k (we): “we have agreed”. Add -mi to ask: Kelishdikmi? is “agreed?”, the question you put to the room before you stand up.
- Kelishamiz is the same verb in the present and future with -miz: kelish-a-miz, “we will agree”. Qolganini keyin kelishamiz is “we will agree on the rest later”. The same -miz appears in boshlaymiz (we start), beramiz (we give) and yuboramiz (we send).
- For “I” instead of “we”, swap the ending: -miz becomes -man, as in yuboraman (I will send) and Roziman (I agree), and past -k becomes -m: kelishdim (I agreed).
