In Uzbek, a written request to your employer is an ariza. It is short, formal and built from fixed pieces: who it is to, who it is from, the heading, one request sentence, your name and the date. This page gives you the words, two sample texts (one for annual leave, one for resignation) and the one grammar idea behind both: the formal request ending -shingizni soʻrayman, “I ask you to …”.
This page is part of Uzbek for business in Uzbekistan, the guide for professionals and investors.

-shingizni soʻrayman: the formal request
Both sample requests below end the same way, and the pattern is built from pieces you have already met in work emails.
- berishingizni soʻrayman (I ask you to give): ber- (give) + -ish (turns the verb into a noun, “giving”) + -ingiz (your, respectful) + -ni (object marker), then soʻrayman (I ask). The same -ingiz is in xatingiz and javobingiz. Swap the verb and you have a new request: ruxsat berishingizni soʻrayman (I ask you to allow it), koʻrib chiqishingizni soʻrayman (I ask you to look it over).
- ishdan boʻshatishingizni soʻrayman (I ask you to release me from work): the same shape with boʻshat- (release). Here “me” is the object, so the sentence starts with Meni.
- Menga or Meni: Menga ta’til berishingizni soʻrayman gives something to me (menga, to me). Meni ishdan boʻshatishingizni soʻrayman asks you to do something to me (meni, me). The first word tells the reader which request this is.
- With “I want to” the request is yours alone: Ta’tilga chiqmoqchiman (I want to go on leave) is what you say in the corridor. -shingizni soʻrayman is what you write, because it hands the decision to the reader.
Two sample arizas
The parts come from a published sample. A sample annual-leave ariza on the legal self-service portal of the Ministry of Justice (adliya.uz) lists the date, the organisation and the official addressed, the applicant’s position and name, and the request. Its request is one sentence asking for the next annual labour leave for a stated working period, from a start date to an end date. The two samples below use those parts in a simple order (addressee line, “from” line, the heading A R I Z A, the request, the applicant’s name, the date); for the layout, follow your employer’s form.
The Labour Code (lex.uz, edition of 15 October 2026) is the source for the three facts below.
- Basic annual paid leave is at least twenty-one calendar days (Article 217), calendar days and not working days.
- An employee can end an open-ended contract by giving the employer fourteen calendar days’ written notice, counted from the day after the employer receives the application (Article 160). Longer or shorter periods apply to some groups, such as managers.
- Leave without pay can be granted on the employee’s written application, for a length agreed with the employer, up to three months in total in twelve months (Article 241).
This is a language page, not legal advice. Your employer’s own form wins over any sample here; ask your HR team what to write and when. The company, names and dates below are made up, so replace every one.

Asking where to start
A: Assalomu alaykum. Men ta’tilga chiqmoqchiman. Ariza namunasi bormi?
Hello. I want to go on leave. Is there a sample application?
B: Va alaykum assalom. Ha, mana. Navbatdagi ta’tilmi?
Hello. Yes, here. Is it your next annual leave?
A: Ha, 15-martdan. Arizani kimga topshiraman?
Yes, from 15 March. Who do I hand the application to?
B: Direktorga. Keyin kadrlar boʻlimiga olib keling.
To the director. Then bring it to the HR department.
A: Tushunarli. Rahmat!
Understood. Thank you!
This dialogue shows the words, not the procedure: who signs and where an ariza goes is for your company to say.
