Meetings with Uzbek partners may run in English or Russian, but a draft, an invoice or a price list can still arrive with Uzbek words in it: shartnoma, toʻlov, hisob-faktura, narx. This page gives you those words and the polite phrases around them, so you can find the right line on a page and ask for what you need. It is about words only, not about what a contract, a tax or a law requires. The one grammar idea is the compound noun: shartnoma muddati, toʻlov sanasi.

Two nouns in a row: shartnoma muddati
English puts the describing noun first and says “payment date”. Uzbek does the same, with one addition: the second noun gets an ending that links it to the first, -i after a consonant and -si after a vowel. Compare the pairs on this page:
- shartnoma muddati: muddat (term) ends in a consonant, so it takes -i. The same pattern gives bank hisobi (hisob + -i), hisob-faktura raqami (raqam + -i) and narx roʻyxati (roʻyxat + -i).
- toʻlov sanasi: sana (date) ends in a vowel, so it takes -si. So do shartnoma loyihasi (loyiha + -si) and shartnoma nusxasi (nusxa + -si).
- -ni goes on after the link when the phrase is the thing you ask for: shartnoma nusxasini yuboring (send a copy of the contract), hisob-fakturani yuboring.
- A word for “our” or “your” takes the place of the link: hisobimiz (our account) and raqamingiz (your number) instead of hisobi and raqami, as in toʻlov hisobimizga tushdi.
When a phrase has a number in it, such as a date or an amount, the numbers start on numbers 1 to 10. For greetings and everyday office talk, see Uzbek phrases for the office.
